First solo exhibition of Kam-Wa Leung.
300 hundred drawers for various metal hardware parts, and more, inside a semi open-air, mostly self-constructed warehouse and factory. It is the daily experience of Leung, working as a craftsman and technician of machinery maintenance for more than 30 years.
In recent years, Leung has been exploring the artistic practices of deconstruction and re-assemblage of metal hardware modules, tools and other recycled materials. Fascinated by the lines, forms, textures and traces of time on his tools, he tries to transcend the functionality embedded in each tool, which the tools themselves reflect the rationality of modern society. It is to find possibilities of every designed, or assumed fate. It is to live our everyday life, the routine, but also to transcend from it.
This art exhibition marked an artistic turn for Leung. According to him, art ignites from the very fabric of our daily existence. He said,
“If you can use a brand-new way of looking at something, anything in the world, it is a great joy.”
“You find light in every simple thing.”
About The Artist :
Leung has been a craftsman and technician of machinery maintenance for more than 30 years. Having a small sized factory in Lau Shui Heung, Fanling, the New Territories in Hong Kong, set up mainly by himself, surrounded by hills and mist, he works day by day with machines and metal parts. He is a motor bike lover. From 2017, inspired by his son, artist Giraffe Leung, he has embarked on his journey of art. He uses his tools, recycled materials and abandoned found objects as materials to create.

策覽介紹
工場,三百個抽屜,分別放著各樣五金零件。日復日的相對、熟習、使用,經歷一場轉化,讓物質與痕跡重新配置,不止於其命定,為生活添起微光。
「過日辰」為梁錦華首個個展。梁氏以維修為本業三十多年,埋首各類機器、工具、工程等技工工作,近年開始醉心轉化各種零件,拆解日常物、丟棄品,製作成獨有之作。現代社會崇尚高度目標為本,工具的用途牢固地、理想地被設計和規劃,梁氏嘗試由日常設定逃逸出去,深觀物料的屬性、線條、質地,發現一切未預見的可能。取渡日經驗,不限於渡日,為世藝也。梁氏講:
「如果一樣嘢,你可以幫佢諗到新嘅改變,真係一件好開心嘅事。」
「因為,萬物皆有趣。」
關於藝術家:
梁氏從事維修及機器修理三十多年,於粉嶺鶴藪流水響設工場,慣於隱身環山厚霧工作,熟用大大小小零件,常自製物件與工具、改裝空間,喜歡電單車。由2017年起,受專注藝術創作的兒子梁洛熙啟發,梁氏開始使用日常所見現成物,解構、改裝及重組成作,擅於發掘五金工具和機器的可塑性,亦涉塑膠品、廢木材、陶瓦等等。
